Mayanor’s approach is all about taking everyday payment transactions and transforming them into lasting customer relationships. In this interview, Narve, our Head of Partnerships, explains why Nordic FinTech expertise is helping to reshape Latin America’s rapidly developing financial landscape. With proven pilot programs and tailored solutions already in place, Mayanor is set to empower local markets by enhancing existing payment systems and delivering practical, impactful technology. Here’s what Narve has to say about it:
Narve: Latin America is a fast-growing region that has long needed an independent partner that coordinates and facilitates change without pushing a one-size-fits-all product. In Costa Rica, we’re bringing a bank-friendly, merchant-centric platform tailored to local needs. Our solutions, from branded QR codes to loyalty programs and smart data tools, are designed to ease the transition from cash to digital payments and support small businesses and the unbanked.
Narve: Nordic companies have established a strong reputation in the FinTech market, with predecessors like Vipps and Swish, which allows us to launch pilot projects much faster than in other regions. In just a short time, we’ve onboarded two pilot partners, bypassing the lengthy processes typically seen with institutions. They recognize us as leaders in both collaboration and technological innovation, which is key in today’s fast-evolving financial landscape.
Narve: Our approach emphasizes speed and clarity. We conduct short, focused test pilots, often just a few weeks long, that provide concrete examples of success. This method contrasts with the conventional, drawn-out testing phases, enabling banks and financial institutions to quickly see the value of our solutions without committing to long, uncertain trial periods.
Narve: Our platform is designed to work in harmony with what banks and merchants already have in place. We add value by integrating smoothly with current payment methods, whether it’s streamlining invoicing, enhancing the customer payment experience, or introducing innovative features like QR code transactions. We remain neutral, offering a flexible, multi-processor solution that acts as an effective add-on rather than a replacement.
Narve: Collaboration is the cornerstone of our strategy. Given my background working with BankAksept and Vipps, along with the experience of my fellow founders, we’ve built a robust network that bridges innovation across borders. Our proof-of-concept projects with major banks and credit companies are prime examples of how combining local expertise with our technology can yield rapid, scalable solutions.
Narve: We’re committed to becoming a trusted growth partner for local banks, retailers, and telecoms. With a track record of over 100 clients in 11 countries, our model is proven to work. In Costa Rica, we’re customizing our approach to deliver fast, cost-effective solutions that enhance financial ecosystems. Our aim is to empower local communities and drive sustainable digital transformation.
